A recent study by the department of psychology at UCLA shows that adults over the age of 50 are the fastest growing demographic for online dating sites. Studies have shown that increased sexual activity is a precursor for happiness and that happiness increases with frequency of sex, even among people over the age of 65, and so there are plenty of positive effects to increased sexual activity in seniors. There are also downsides, however, as the British Medical Journal reported incidences of sexually transmitted diseases more than doubling in the last ten years for people between the ages of 50 and 90.
