What Love Is and What Love Isn’t

People compare love to many things, but a very important part of love in a marriage is clarity. We must know love and express love clearly, which is a task that can be made easier by understanding what love isn’t. To begin with what love is, it is open. Love doesn’t dictate the actions of the person loved in order to better accommodate just one person. Love is something that you can feel in your gut; you can tell when you are being loved by a partner or not. Love is fair. That doesn’t mean that love is a process of treaties, but rather that love involves real desire for the security of both parties.
